Guidance
Reduce your wait time at the luggage carousel and minimize the risk of theft.
Before you travel
Before you travel, mark your suitcase with an identifying feature, string, colored tag. This makes it easier to identify when waiting, and that you collect the right suitcase.
Do not put personal information on a luggage tag.
Before you travel, place an Apple AirTag in your luggage. It can save time when trying to locate where your luggage is. At the airport, or still on the ground where your plane departed.
At the carousel
Watch for your suitcase as it appears on the carousel. Don’t hang back and wait for the crowds to disperse – you might find that someone else has already taken your bag. There are professional thieves that attend airports to steal luggage.
While waiting for luggage, avoid changing quantities of money. It’s a distraction thieves are looking for and provides an incentive for opportunistic thieves to target you.
Once you have your luggage, remove the tags. These tags identify you and provide thieves with an insight into your homeland. It gives them an angle when speaking to you.
